• Collaborate with school leadership.

• Show an understanding of and agreement with the mission, philosophy, and pedagogy of Covenant Christian Academy.

Covenant Commentaries

Our next Covenant Commentary, Preventing Summer Slide: How Parents Can Help Their Children Maintain Academic Progress Over the Summer Vacation, will be held on Friday, May 31st during the Covenant Parent Connection meeting at 8:45 am. 

This commentary will target elementary-aged learners. 

Summer can sometimes bring a dip in academic progress for elementary students, known as the “summer slide.” However, parents can play a crucial role in keeping their kids academically engaged and advancing during these months. Grammar School Principal Andrea Bergstrom will explain how simple activities like reading together, exploring educational projects, or even incorporating learning into everyday tasks like cooking or gardening can make a big difference. Join us to hear about and share suggestions for staying proactive and making learning fun to help prevent the summer slide and ensure your child starts the new school year on the right foot.

This session will be recorded for those who cannot attend.

Dig In and Grow Together: Join the Classical Roots Summer Program for Gardening Fun!

Fridays During the Summer | 10:00 am–12:00 pm | CCA Vegetable Garden and Orchard

The Classical Roots Program is looking for CCA families who want to get their hands dirty!

Each Friday during the summer, our student volunteers are looking for some help weeding, watering, and harvesting in our school vegetable garden and orchard. When you and your family arrive, a faculty representative and student volunteer will meet you, provide tools and know-how, and assign you this week’s gardening tasks. The reward? You and your kids get to learn about organic gardening.

The icing on the cake? You get to take home any fresh herbs and vegetables that are ripe and ready for free as our way of saying thanks! Sessions run from 10:00 am to around 12:00 pm.

Watch Our Students Shine: Tune in to Channel 5 for a Special Shout Out with Meteorologist David Williams!

Friday, May 10th | 4:30–7:30 am | Channel 5 Eye-Opener News

In March CCA students in grades 2-4 enjoyed a very informative visit from local meteorologist David Williams. As is customary for these school visits, we ended our time together with a brief “Shout Out” by the students which was recorded and will be shown several times between 4:30 and 7:00 am on Channel 5 on May 10th during the Eye-Opener Newscast.

Celebrating Our Seniors: College Sweatshirt Day

Friday, May 10th

This Friday, May 10th, is College Sweatshirt Day. We will be celebrating our seniors as they wear college gear from the school they will attend next year. All students in grades 7-11 are invited to wear sweatshirts or T-shirts from any college to celebrate our seniors. Of course, students are also welcome to wear regular CCA spirit wear if they so choose.

RS Coffeehouse

Friday, May 10th | 7:00–8:30 pm | Cafeteria

Rhetoric School students are invited to a Coffeehouse this Friday night put on by the Fine Arts department. The event will include a variety of coffee-house-style performances by students before an audience of their peers. Past Coffeehouse events have included musical performances, vocal performances, and poetry readings. 

Drop off and pick up for this event is in the cafeteria courtyard. 

Capture Memories Forever: Order Your USLR Yearbook Today

Deadline to order: Monday, May 13th

We are happy to announce that this year, the USLR Yearbook will be distributed on the last day of school (June 6th) to seniors and all students who have purchased one. There will be a designated time for the Yearbook Staff to introduce the yearbook, for students to enjoy it together, and for those who wish to get signatures or notes from classmates.

The cost of the yearbook this year is $64.55. It is a 180-page hard-cover, full-color book that highlights all of the activities students have participated in this year. In order for it to be published in time it will not include Coda Trips or Graduation. The deadline to order a yearbook is May 13th for June 6th delivery.*  Seniors will be gifted a yearbook and DO NOT need to order one.

Farewell and Adventure Awaits: Taylor’s Next Chapter in Scotland

Taylor (Bradford) Halik (Class of ’15) will be moving to Edinburgh, Scotland at the end of June with her husband Max. Taylor has been serving as the Assistant Director of Advancement Communications at Gordon College’s La Vida program for the past two years. She began her journey with La Vida ten years ago as a CIT in high school. While across the pond, Taylor will be enrolled at the University of Edinburgh where she is pursuing a MSc in Outdoor Environmental and Sustainability Education with the hopes of continuing her passion for storytelling both in the woods and at the writing desk.

Art of Avocadoes: CCA Senior Liza Minogue’s Nutritional Journey

CCA Senior Liza Minogue has started a gut health/nutrition Instagram page to share nourishing recipes and inspiring content with people who want to eat healthier, feel better, and love food! Liza was inspired to help others following the research she did for her Senior Thesis and her personal health experiences.
