Jade’s Garden: “Free Book Library” Donations Welcome

Jade’s Garden is a beautifully renovated memorial courtyard for our Early Childhood students. Seven years ago, the Covenant community experienced the devastating loss of one of our own precious students. Adored by her teachers and classmates alike, Jade Williamson was full of life and joy as she prepared to begin kindergarten in the fall of 2016. A sudden illness, just shy of her fifth birthday tragically took Jade’s life and left her family and loved ones shattered. Our community grieved with the Williamsons, prayed together, and celebrated Jade’s short life, while promising never to forget her beautiful spirit. Jade was a gift to us all and we will always join with Adam, Jenny and Jacob (Gr. 10) in keeping her memory alive. God has been faithful and true and the Williamson family will attest to the many ways that God has used this tragedy, bringing beauty out of ashes. If you have never had the chance we encourage you to visit Jade’s Garden in between our PreK and Kindergarten classrooms.

Mrs. Granda has been doing some much-needed spring updates to Jade’s Garden and noticed we are low on books in the Free Book Library. If you’d like to contribute gently used books for ages 3-7 about nature, farms, gardens, plants, animals, bugs, or weather, please drop them off at the main office or reach out to Mrs. Granda for more information: holly.granda@ccamail.org.

Dig In and Grow Together: Join the Classical Roots Summer Program for Gardening Fun!

Fridays During the Summer | 10:00 am–12:00 pm | CCA Vegetable Garden and Orchard

The Classical Roots Program is looking for CCA families who want to get their hands dirty!

You and your kids get to learn about organic gardening.

The icing on the cake? You get to take home any fresh herbs and vegetables that are ripe and ready for free as our way of saying thanks! Sessions run from 10:00 am to around 12:00 pm.

Sign up for a day here.

From books for all age groups to the “fun gifts” section, there was something for everyone and it was great to experience an in-person book fair again at CCA. Special thanks to Morning Star for bringing their store to us and to our amazing Librarian Mrs. Favini for putting it all together.

Watch Our Students Shine: Tune in to Channel 5 for a Special Shout Out with Meteorologist David Williams!

Friday, May 10th | 4:30–7:30 am | Channel 5 Eye-Opener News

About a month ago CCA students in grades 2-4 enjoyed a very informative visit from local meteorologist David Williams. At that time, as is customary for these school visits, we ended our time together with a brief “Shout Out” by the students which was recorded and will be shown on Channel 5 on May 10th during the Eye-Opener Newscast between 4:30 and 7:00 am. It will likely be shown several times throughout that time.

We hope you will be able to tune in or record this fun moment!

May the Fourth Be With You: Grammar School Celebrates Star Wars Day!

Friday, May 3rd | Grammar School Dress-Down Day

National Star Wars Day is held on May 4th each year.  It was chosen for the pun on the catchphrase “May the Force be with you” as “May the Fourth be with you”. Even though the holiday was not created or declared by Lucasfilm, many Star Wars fans across the world have chosen to celebrate the holiday. It has since been embraced by Lucasfilm and parent company Disney as an annual celebration of Star Wars.

Since May 4th falls on a weekend this year, the Grammar School will be celebrating Star Wars Day on Friday, May 3rd. Students may wear their favorite Star Wars T-shirt, do their hair like Princess Laia, or dress like Yoda! Spirit Wear is always allowed for those who would prefer not to participate.

Please note – this is not about going out and spending money to purchase a costume. It’s supposed to be fun for the students and bring a little joy to our hallways. A T-shirt with a character on it works great.

Grammar School Dance Clinic

Girls in grades 4-6 joined Miss Perrotta for a four-day dance clinic where they worked on stretching, basic dance techniques, and jazz choreography. Miss Perrotta was very impressed with how quickly these girls picked up new combinations of choreography and how they strengthened their technique skills from the start of the clinic to the very last day. Stay tuned for more dance clinics coming in the 2024-25 school year.

Lost in a Fairytale: Join us for the Promenade!

Saturday, May 4th | 6:30–10:00 pm | Ferncroft Country Club

SOPHOMORE | JUNIOR | SENIOR PROM

Get ready to capture memories that will last a lifetime! Parents, friends, and family – grab your cameras and join us for an unforgettable Promenade. Witness the glamour and excitement as our students make their grand entrance, beginning at 6:30 pm sharp.

The Promenade is a fun CCA tradition where students are announced as they walk out in pairs or small groups and have their pictures taken. After all the groups have been announced, we will take a large group picture.

Join us at the Ferncroft Country Club located at 10 Village Rd, Middleton, MA 01949. As you pull in the relatively long driveway and through the parking lot you will see buildings ahead of you on the right and the left. If you stay in the middle you will be able to drop off your students at a circle drive. After dropping off your students, you can park in the parking lot and then return toward the circle drive where you dropped them off. Head to the far side of the circle drive where there is a patio with a couple of fire pits. Friends and family will hang out by the patio and grass area. For the promenade, the students will walk from the building down the path to the patio where you will be able to take their pictures.

Students should arrive for the Promenade at 6:15 pm.

The prom is from 7:00–10:00 pm.

See you there!

Cougars Round-Up

VARSITY TRACK AND FIELD

Saturday, April 27th:

On a sunny and windy day, the Cougars Track and Field team traveled to Concord to take on Concord Academy, Dexter Southfield, Landmark, Newton Country Day, Pingree, and Winsor. There were some great performances. Continuing her undefeated campaign in the discus, Anne Hammond beat 17 other girls with her 84’ throw. She also won the javelin, beating 20 others. Jacob Libby won the 100m. Magdalen Miller won the 400m with an astonishing 60.5-second lap. That came after she won the long jump with her 15’ 2” effort. Lukas Badaro won the high jump with his 5’ 8” leap. Dylan Curtis and Matthew Stuart traded school-record throws until Dylan set it at 32’ 10”. And the girls’ 4×100 set a new school record with a 53.6 as Anna Jukanovich, Julia Ray, Liza Minogue, and Carys Walters notched immortality (until they do it again).

VARSITY SOFTBALL

Tuesday, April 30th:

CCA 25, Woodward 4

The Girls Varsity Softball team came out with their first win of the season against Woodward on Tuesday with a final score of 25-4. The Cougars showed up ready and pulled off two triple plays! Everyone contributed to the final score. Way to go, girls!

VARSITY ULTIMATE FRISBEE

Monday, April 29th:

CCA 8, Commonwealth 10

The Varsity Ultimate Frisbee team lost a close match to Commonwealth with a final score of 10-8. The game was tight from wire to wire, with Commonwealth pulling away in the last 5 minutes of the match. Simeon Yen was the central handler on offense, and Mikey Graves was everywhere on defense.

MIDDLE SCHOOL ULTIMATE FRISBEE

Monday, April 29th:

CCA 9, Commonwealth 10

What a great game played by the Middle School Ultimate Frisbee team on Monday against Commonwealth. While they lost 9-10, the players were competing against an all-high-school team and showed grit and determination. They played with only 1 sub, so everyone got plenty of playing time and worked on their endurance. Kaden Lewis led in assists with 5 and Nate Jukanovich scored 4 goals. Overall great teamwork and hustle were shown on both ends of the field and every player had opportunities to contribute.
