Theater Arts is another key component to a robust fine arts program at CCA. Through classroom instruction, recitation, and stage performances students engage with one another and audiences through imaginative thought and action. The creative process manifested through acting skills encourages interaction among peers, team building, discipline, and achieving short- and long-term goals.

 

Theater Arts also enables students to learn social, intellectual and artistic skills. As Christians, we need to use the creative abilities that God has given to glorify Him. The Arts are useful in Christian ministry to ask the questions and present the challenges that will draw people to the answers in the Gospel.


 

All students in Grades 7 and 8 participate in a Theater Arts course that meets once a week for the entire school year. Rhetoric School students have the opportunity to choose from a wide array of Theater Arts classes such as Theater Arts 1, Theater Arts 2, Acting, Devised Performance and more.  Three theatrical productions are presented each year at the various grade levels, including:

  • October: Grammar School Play (Grades 3-5)
  • March: Upper School Musical (Grades 6-12) (on alternate years with the Rhetoric & Logic School Plays)
  • March: Rhetoric School Play (Grades 9-12) (on alternate years with the Musical)
  • May: Logic School Play (Grades 6-8) (on alternate years with the Musical)
