Lazarus House Project Bethlehem–Spreading Christmas Cheer

This Christmas, we are partnering with Lazarus House in Lawrence through Project Bethlehem, an incredible opportunity to bless those in need. We will be providing gifts for three large families, as part of Lazarus House’s broader mission to meet the needs of hundreds of families referred to them by Lawrence Public Schools and local agencies.

Many of these families are facing significant financial challenges, and as a Project Bethlehem donor, you have the chance to be a Christmas angel, offering the priceless gift of your thoughtfulness and care during a difficult time.

Join us in spreading holiday joy and making a difference for families in need this Christmas season. Your generosity will help bring hope and comfort to those who need it most. Click here to sign up. Thank you for being part of this heartwarming project!

Christmas Blessing–Thanking Our Faculty & Staff

Each December, we come together as a school community to show our appreciation for the incredible teachers and staff at Covenant Christian Academy through the Christmas Blessing collection. This annual tradition is a monetary collection from families, which is then equally divided among faculty and staff in the form of gift cards.

Over the years, we’ve found that this method ensures every individual at Covenant feels truly valued for their dedication and hard work. From classroom teachers to those working behind the scenes, everyone plays an essential role in creating the exceptional school experience our children enjoy.

We invite all families to participate by making a monetary donation, helping us express our gratitude and love to those who make a difference at CCA. Thank you for being part of this meaningful tradition!

NURSE’S NOTES

Influenza

Influenza (also commonly known as the flu) is a respiratory illness that may range from mild to severe.  Flu viruses are spread through tiny droplets released in the air through coughing or sneezing, or by touching a surface that has the virus and then putting hands in the mouth or nose.  Symptoms often include fever, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, headache, body aches, and fatigue.   It can be difficult to distinguish flu from other respiratory illnesses based on symptoms alone, but a health care provider can do a simple in-office test that can help diagnose. There are antiviral medications that may be prescribed by a doctor to treat flu in some individuals; however, treatment primarily involves rest, fluids, and over-the-counter medications for symptomatic relief as the body fights off the virus.

Over the past couple weeks, we have seen an increase in flu-like symptoms, as well as received some reports of positive flu diagnoses.  Please remember to keep your student home from school if they have a fever of 100 F or higher, or have severe respiratory symptoms.  Ways to help prevent the spread of flu include covering your cough or sneeze, frequent handwashing, and staying home when ill.  You may also consider obtaining a flu vaccine to help decrease the risk of severe flu illness.  For more information, please visit the CDC website, or contact your health care provider with questions.

Looking for a Christmas Devotional?

This year, consider reading CCA Parent Esther Baird’s “The Healed Heart of Christmas”, available on Kindle and in paperback on Amazon. It’s a beautiful way to keep the message of Jesus and the hope of the gospel at the forefront during the busy Christmas season.

Christmas is meant to be a time of joy and celebration, but often we feel overwhelmed as the calendar turns to December. Is it just the long to-do lists and packed schedules? Or does the season reveal something deeper that’s been broken all year long? The truth is, it’s our hearts that are broken, and no amount of busyness can fix them.

In this 25-day devotional, Esther explores how we often try to fix our hearts on our own, only to find ourselves frustrated and disappointed. The good news is that healing is possible—through Jesus. Each day, The Healed Heart of Christmas invites you to discover how Jesus offers to take our broken, cold hearts and replace them with His own, offering true healing and peace.

Make this Christmas season a time of reflection, healing, and renewed hope as you journey through this devotional. Click here to order your copy today!
