GENERAL NEWS & ANNOUNCEMENTS

Veterans Day – Honoring All Who Served

On Wednesday, we gathered as a school, along with Veterans and members of our community, to honor our Veterans and thank them for their service to our great country! Covenant Parent Connection Open Meeting

Friday, November 17th | 8:15am | CCA Cafeteria

Parents, please join us for the Covenant Parent Connection open meeting to find our how you can support December activities and events. Stay for our second Covenant Commentary to take place during the open meeting.

For questions about Covenant Parent Connection please contact Andrea Bergstrom, Grammar School Principal, at andrea.bergstrom@ccamail.org

Covenant Commentaries

Our next Covenant Commentary, The Healed Heart of Christmas, will be held on Friday, November 17th during the Covenant Parent Connection meeting at 8:15am, and will feature CCA Parent and Author Esther Baird. Christmas is supposed to be joyful, it’s supposed to be a celebration. So why do we feel like we are slipping ever faster towards the edge of a cliff when the calendar flips to December? Is it just the longer to-do list? Is it a scheduling problem? Or does Christmas bring to the surface something that actually hasn’t been right all year long? Something that is broken. Because something has gone wrong, and much as we’d like to blame society, schools, churches, families or each other, what’s really broken is our hearts. Copies of Esther’s newly released Christmas devotional will be available for purchase.

For questions about Covenant Commentaries or to suggest topics for future Commentaries, please contact Nicole Williams, Chief Advancement Officer, at nicole.williams@ccamail.org

Save the date for our next Commentary!

Month of Giving

Giving Tuesday is Tuesday, November 28. It is a global generosity movement that unleashes the power of radical generosity worldwide and represents the belief that every act of generosity is the primary means – and end. The #GivingTuesday movement strives to build a world in which the catalytic power of generosity is at the heart of the society we create together – encouraging further generosity, which in and of itself is uplifting, generative, equalizing, and connecting!

CCA is preparing for a season of expressing gratitude and sowing generosity, starting with a month of varied stewardship opportunities leading to Giving Tuesday and continuing through to the end of the year. Stay tuned for details this week and throughout the month – and get ready for #GivingTuesday!

Join Our Pumpkin Composting Drive!

CCA’s Classical Roots program needs your old pumpkins! Instead of tossing them away, let’s give these pumpkins a new purpose. We’re collecting old pumpkins to add to our compost bin, helping create nutrient-rich soil for our garden. If you have any pumpkins you’d like to donate, please leave them near the composting bins by the USLR entrance, and we’ll take care of the rest!

Let’s save these pumpkins from the trash and turn them into something green and wonderful!

CCA is Hiring: Facilities Manager

The Covenant community has always been at the heart of the school’s success, and many of our hires come from within our Covenant community! Your referrals have been instrumental in bringing the right people into our school, and we would be so grateful for your help as we search for the right candidate to serve as the Facilities Manager at CCA.

We’re seeking an individual who embodies our cherished values: a mature Christian faith, a passion for service, exceptional relationship-building skills, and an innate joy in managing our facility. If you know someone who fits this description, please point them in our direction and have them apply here

School Picture Retake Day

Tuesday, November 28th

Retake day is for new students and staff members, transfer students, anyone who may have missed the initial picture day, and anyone unhappy with their original picture. If a student would like the retake photo to replace the original photo, please have the student return the original picture package to the photographer on picture day. We will replace the original package at no additional cost.

Save the Date for CCA’s International Festival on Friday, January 26th!

We are looking forward to hosting CCA’s largest celebration of the many cultures and traditions represented within our incredible Covenant community! Join us for an evening of food, fun, and celebration in the PAAC from 6-8 pm.

The International Festival is an evening where families can represent their heritage and culture by sharing food, drinks, art, music, decorations, etc with the CCA community. We will line the PAAC with tables from different countries and have an open house atmosphere where you can go around and sample different food, talk with parents and students, and learn about different cultures that are present within the CCA community.

If you are interested in being part of a table and providing some food to share, please sign up here.

If you have any questions or ideas, please contact the Global Community Council Student Prefect William at william.wei.2024@ccamail.org.

GRAMMAR SCHOOL

Operation Christmas Child

Boxes due Wednesday, November 15th.

We are again providing an opportunity for you to participate in the Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child (OCC) initiative. This Christmas, children living in poverty all over the world may receive the first present they have ever been given: a shoebox full of small necessities and gifts. Filling this shoebox is a simple way to share the love of Christ with those in need. We encourage you to use a durable plastic shoebox whenever possible as these plastic shoeboxes become a valuable part of the gift to those in need; however, this year, we will provide one OCC-branded cardboard box per GS family at your request (available in carlines and lobbies at arrival and dismissal). Additional cardboard boxes will be available upon request as supplies last.

UPPER SCHOOL OF LOGIC & RHETORIC

RS Students Hold Mock Election of 1800

In the historical election of 1800, Massachusetts threw its weight behind the home-state candidate John Adams. In fact, he won all of New England! However, times have changed, and by a vote of 34-24, Thomas Jefferson won CCA’s mock-election of 1800.

Students from 9th–12th grade were able to vote for either John Adams and the Federalist party or Thomas Jefferson and the Democratic-Republicans. Juniors in Mr. Wegrzyn’s AP US History class were tasked with campaigning for each party and were available to answer questions on the issues which distinguish each candidate!
