School Health Advisory: Influenza
Since returning from Winter Break, we have seen a marked increase in flu-like illness within our school community. Influenza (also commonly known as the flu) is a respiratory illness that may range from mild to severe. Flu viruses are spread through tiny droplets released in the air through coughing or sneezing, or by touching a surface that has the virus and then putting one’s hands in the mouth or nose. Symptoms of flu may include, fever, cough, sore throat, headache, body aches, and fatigue. Treatment primarily involves rest, fluids, and over-the-counter medications for symptomatic relief as the body fights off the virus.
Please remember if your child has a fever of 100 degrees Fahrenheit or higher, they must stay home from school until they are fever free for at least 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medications. Please DO NOT medicate your child for fever in the morning and then send them to school. For more information, you may visit the CDC website, or contact your health care provider if you have any questions or concerns about your student. Feel free to contact school.nurse@ccamail.org if you have any additional questions. |

YES Service Group Informational MeetingSunday, March 23rd | 4:00 pm | The Sandford’s home, Hamilton
YES is a service group, led by Kristin Larson (former CCA teacher), in collaboration with Mandi Sandford (CCA Parent), that at its heart, is the coming together of families that envision their children learning and growing through and in service. We invite all students, parents, pastors and people with a passion for our community, serving others, and guiding children to lives of meaning to join us in growing this youth service club.
The group will serve as a regular place to: • Talk and think about what service is. Is it always far away? Does it only happen when you do it in a group? • Learn from invited guests and to ask questions and brainstorm with them • Watch inspirational films around service and process them together (with snacks of course) We envision that the service club would meet several times a year for educational sessions and hands-on volunteer opportunities.
If this concept interests you, please join us to share your thoughts and ideas for what YES can grow to become! When: March 23rd at 4:00 pm Where: At the Sandford’s home, Hamilton What: Light Dinner & Discussion RSVP: Kristin Larson: 781-439-1968 (text only) or Mandi Sandford: mandisandford@gmail.com

Bethany Osborne, Grammar School Faculty, Kindergarten
What is your role at Covenant and how long have you worked here? I have been teaching Kindergarten at Covenant for 3 years.
What’s your favorite thing about working at Covenant? Being part of the Covenant community is my favorite part of my job. I love that we’re all working toward the same goal—guiding our students to grow in knowledge and faith. I love connecting with families- greeting my students, their parents, and siblings each morning and afternoon. It’s a privilege to be a part of their lives, both in and out of the classroom and following their journey as they move throughout the grades.
Can you share a Bible verse or passage that has had a significant impact on your life or career? “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:27. Despite the challenges that come up day to day, year to year, His peace is a gift that remains constant.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work? I love spending time with my family, especially traveling together to see different landmarks in the US, visiting theme parks in Florida and relaxing in New Hampshire. I also love to read, bake and go to the beach.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be and why? I would love to visit Ireland to see where my grandparents and my in-laws are from.
Describe one way you see God’s hand in Covenant’s mission or work. I see God’s hand in my kindergarten classroom every day. The love and empathy the kids show for each other is beautiful, and they always strive to do their best and honor God in everything they do.
What’s your favorite food? Anything chocolate
Who on the team inspires you the most, and why? I am so inspired by Mrs. Bergstrom. Her knowledge, gentle nature, and guidance for students and staff are qualities that I hope to bring to my classroom.
What’s a fun fact about you that most people don’t know? I’ve lived in the same town I was born in my whole life.
What’s your favorite CCA tradition or event? So many events at CCA are a favorite of mine, as I get to watch Kindergarteners experience them for the first time. Every year I really look forward to welcoming Grandparents and Special Friends into our classroom! It is so fun to watch the students share their work and their favorite things in our classroom with their guest.
What’s your favorite book, movie, or hobby? I love to read mysteries. My favorite movie is Frozen.
How do you find balance between your faith, family, and work commitments? I believe all three—faith, family, and work—are equally important in my life, and I strive to give my best to each. I’m truly blessed to work where my family is. Having two daughters in the upper school gives me the chance to see them in the hall now and then or offer a quick ‘good luck’ before they head off to a test or quiz in the morning. This year, we’ve made a conscious effort to carve out downtime on the weekends to be together at home, rather than rushing around. Finding this balance is a continual effort, but it’s so important to us.
Is there anything else you’d like the community to know about you? God has truly blessed me by bringing my family to the Covenant community. |
