Red, White, & Pink Dress Down Day
This Week in PreK
PreK students made valentines in school and each student was asked to think of someone they would like to give it to. Nicholas chose Mr. Ulrich, our school’s safety director. We all loved that he chose one of our community helpers to show his appreciation for all they do.
This Week in Library
Mrs. Osborne‘s and Mrs. McEachern‘s kindergarten classes finished their Laura Numeroff book series this week in Library class and celebrated with a special party. They enjoyed all of the same sweets that the characters from the stories enjoyed!

Special Guests in Chapel
USLR Chapel wrapped up a series of guest speakers this week. Greg Hills and Jon Eide spoke this week on behalf of Mission to the World (MTW) on global missions and the importance of access to the gospel for ALL people. Greg shared that if every Christian shared the gospel with every person they knew, and God miraculously saved each one of them, there would still be 3 billion unreached people in the world. Jon shared about the outreach efforts that are still needed in a war-struck Ukraine.
Last week our community was blessed with a humbling message on mercy by guest speaker Kevin Baird. Kevin is the associate pastor of the First Congregational Church in Hamilton, where he has served for many years. He is the husband to Betsy, who teaches math in the Logic School here at Covenant, and he is the father of four Covenant students: Winter (’24), Greta (’26), Adelaide (’28), and Colvin (’31).

Can You Help the Robotics Teams Compete in Mashpee? The CCA Robotics Teams have improved by leaps and bounds this past season! They are looking to attend one final scrimmage of the season on April 6th in Mashpee, MA, against 25 other schools from the Southern New England VEX District. This will be an excellent opportunity for them to continue improving the designs, programming, and driving skills they have built on throughout the year and showcase them one final time in the 23-24 Vex Season! They have come very close to making the semi-final rounds in the other competitions this year and hope to achieve that goal at April’s competition if they can attend.
Check out the competition overview here.
Cost for sponsorship: $550
Please connect with Nicole Wise Williams at nicole.williams@ccamail.com if you are interested in sponsoring the Robotics teams. |
This Week in Community
Ms. Johnson’s senior statistics class led our houses in a game of Family Feud. Cougars Round-Up
Congrats to the Boys and Girls Varsity Basketball teams on a great season! Both teams made the semi-finals in their respective leagues, playing back-to-back home playoff games on Wednesday to a full gym of spectators. While the game outcomes weren’t what we hoped for, we’re proud of our Cougars for the effort and perseverance they’ve all shown throughout the season.
Boys Varsity Basketball:
CCA: 56, Marie Philip: 64
The Boys Varsity Basketball team took on Marie Philip at home for the semi-final game of the playoffs. Down 20 early in the first half, the boys came back and got within three points in the last couple of minutes. They showed resilience and determination – absolutely never giving up and always trying to find a way.
Bennett Plosker was inspiring in leading the team back, not only scoring 29 points but shutting down their best player throughout the second half. Jacob Libby‘s effort and attitude were also something that should never be forgotten, chasing around MP’s other All-Star for virtually the entire 32 minutes while giving everything he had at both ends of the court.
Great job on an amazing season, boys!
Girls Varsity Basketball
CCA: 25, Gann: 40
The Girls Varsity Basketball team lost a tough semi-final matchup to Gann Academy by the final score of 40-25. The Girls were competitive for a quarter but gradually fell behind the opposing team who played consistently throughout. Senior Liza Minogue led the scoring for the Lady Cougars with 14 points. CCA ends the season with a record of 11-8 and looks forward to the NEPSAC tournament.
Boys Middle School Basketball
CCA: 41, Marie Philip: 30
For the final game of the season, the Boys Middle School Basketball team traveled to Marie Philip in Framingham. Earning their first victory of the season with a final score of 41-30! Connor C led the scoring with a season-high 26 points including 6 three-pointers.
Girls Middle School Basketball
February 5, 2024
CCA: 19, Rockport: 24
Rockport Middle School ventured into the PAAC for a rescheduled showdown. Rockport’s 2-3 zone and long length gave the Cougars a hard time trying to break down the defense. Lia P‘s outside shooting kept the score close. The game was tied 14-14 at the half and was only a three-point difference into the last seconds of the game. Lia P led all scorers (5 three-pointers).
February 6, 2024
CCA: 40, Shore: 47
In the last road game of the season, CCA traveled to Shore Country Day School. This was by far the best performance of the season for the team. The team worked together and displayed strong defense. They played aggressively, made steals and all worked to rebound while being undersized in comparison. Down 21-23 at the half, Shore pushed the lead to 11 to start the third quarter only to be reeled back in until the final minute. Lia P had a career game and single-handedly pushed Shore to the brink with her 33 points (8 three-pointers). Chole D. and Lila O. contributed to the scoring.
February 8, 2024
CCA: 36, Marie Philip: 25
For the final game of the season, the Cougars faced the Galloping Ghosts of Marie Philip. A complete effort by the team and distributed scoring allowed CCA to control the contest from start to finish. Rebounds, steals, and breakouts were the story of the game. Lia P and Chloe D led the team with 16 and 12, respectively. Lila O., Abby B., and Alex Q. rounded out the scoring.
The University of Hartford is pleased to announce that Nelle Higgins (CCA Class of ’22) of Danvers has been named to its President’s List for Fall 2023. The President’s List is made up of an extremely select group of students who earned a grade point average of 3.75 or higher in the semester. |
