March Uniform Swap

Tuesday, March 5th–Thursday, March 7th | CCA Cafeteria

For many years, the Covenant community has enjoyed supporting one another by recycling and reusing outgrown uniforms.

Our next Uniform Swap will be available in the cafeteria from March 5 through March 7. It is unnecessary to contribute to benefit, but we encourage everyone to participate – or hand down outgrown uniforms directly to family and friends. Please drop off gently used and clean uniforms via the carlines between February 5th and February 29th in preparation for the swap.

Annual 100th Day Donation Drive

Monday, February 5th–Thursday, February 15th

This month, CCA will honor our annual commitment to support a valuable Peabody organization we have partnered with for more than ten years! includes a food pantry and community meals program. The food pantry provides free, nutrient-dense food to low- and moderate-income families and individuals.

Clients may visit the pantry once every seven days to receive groceries that help them stretch their budgets and allow them to take care of other critical needs such as personal health, housing, utilities, and student loans. Haven serves over 5,500 unique individuals from Peabody, Salem, and Lynnfield (nearly 1,000 households per week) and distributes over 2 million pounds of food annually. The community meals program offers guests a nutritious supper four nights a week and is open to anyone from all communities. Haven serves approximately 15,600 meals annually.

Please refer to the attached flyer to discover how your child’s class/grade will participate in the effort in honor of our 100th Day of School. We invite you to help your classrooms achieve the possible goal of collecting 100 designated items to help others in need.

Please bring your contributions to Morning Drop Off beginning February 5th and ending February 15th!

USLR students will receive House points for most items collected!

Thanks for all you can do for our Peabody community!

SnowBall Father/Daughter Dance

Saturday, February 10th | 6:00–8:00 pm | PAAC

Our Annual SnowBall for all our girls and their distinguished gentlemen guests is just over a week away! This beloved and highly anticipated event is a great way for our girls and their guests to enjoy a sweet time of fellowship and fun. Invitations went home with the youngest daughters last week, so check your orange folders. If you have not RSVP’d for this great event, please do so ASAP by clicking here

It takes lots of volunteers, giving of their time, energy, and baking skills to pull off this great event! We hope you will support this event with your time or treasure, as it will be enjoyable for everyone involved.

We particularly need folks to help decorate the PAAC between 2:00 and 4:00 on Friday, 2/9, and volunteers to serve during the event! We love to have our USLR girls join us as volunteers, so please encourage older CCA daughters/friends to join us if they would like.

Remember, many hands make for light work and will help guarantee that our girls will enjoy a night to remember!

Sign up here to volunteer.

This Week in Chapel

Dean of Students Caleb Ingersoll was the USLR’s special guest speaker for the chapel this week. He spoke on Matthew 5:7 – “Blessed are the merciful, for they will receive mercy.” Caleb argued that mercy is not a feeling, but 1) compassion in action toward the hurting or the struggling, and 2) forgiveness for the guilty. He talked about the story of the Good Samaritan – illustrating mercy as compassion in action, and discussed the parable of the unmerciful servant from Matthew 18 – illustrating the importance of forgiving others as we have been forgiven. He also shared a personal story of being bullied in middle school to describe moments of experiencing both types of mercy.

Cougars Round Up

Boys Varsity Basketball:

January 26th: CCA: 66, Waring: 47

Junior guard Bennett Plosker scored a school record 43 points as CCA improved to 5-1 in the MBIL. Plosker went 8-for-8 from the field in the second half while sinking six three-pointers for the game. Also contributing for the Cougars were junior forward Matt Stuart (8 points), junior forward Jacob Libby (5 points, 10 rebounds) and 8th-grade guard Jacob Chewning, who played tenacious defense while netting six points.

January 29th: CCA: 67, Marie Philip: 46

The Boys Varsity Cougars improved to 7-1 in the MBIL (9-6 overall) with a big win over Marie Philip, which came in sharing first-place in the league with CCA and BU Academy. The visitors got off to an 18-0 start to begin the game and never looked back, with all nine players scoring. Leading Covenant was junior guard Bennett Plosker, who netted 19 points, while eighth-grade guard Jacob Chewning (12 points) and freshman forward Dimitrie Farcas (11 points) also reached double figures.

January 30th: CCA: 79, Waring: 40

Tuesday’s match up against Waring magnified how far some of these Boys Varsity players have come when it comes to playing the game, becoming a team and simply developing the confidence needed to play at the varsity level. Everybody who played in this game offered that reality. Top of the list was Jacob Chewning, who finished with a career-high 19 points while once again playing lock-down defense. Solomon Ngethe helped highlight the whole equation, doing absolutely whatever is needed – on and off the court. Whether it was taking the ball to the hoop, boxing out, running the offense, and, of course, helping his fellow Cougars, Solomon executed it with excellence.

Girls Varsity Basketball:

January 25th: CCA: 34, Landmark 4

The Girls JV Basketball team won against Landmark with a final score of 34-4. Marie M. ’28 led the team in scoring with 22 points.

January 29th: CCA: 46, Landmark: 23

The CCA Girls Varsity Basketball team defeated Landmark School by the final score of 46-23. The Lady Cougars started slowly but broke the game open in the third quarter, breezing to the final score. Liza Minogue led CCA with 25 points while Julia Ray played a strong defensive game and chipped in with 11 points.

Boys JV Basketball:

January 29th: CCA: 23, Pingree: 52

The boys started the game out strong with excellent defensive effort and held Pingree down offensively to keep a close score midway through the first half. Ultimately, Pingree overpowered and though the Cougars battled hard the rest of the game, Pingree was able to pull away. Shoutout to all the guys for their hard work on defense including Nick who had at least 4 blocks and a ton of rebounds. Jacob Williamson drew a key charge in the 1st half.

Girls JV Basketball:

January 30th: CCA: 41, Landmark: 14

The Girls JV basketball team beat Landmark with a final score of 41-14. Marie M. carried the team with a total of 26 points. Leah M. scored 9 points. The girls played a great game all around.

Boys Middle School Basketball:

January 25th:

On January 25th, the Boys Middle School hosted Abundant Life Christian School. In the first half, the boys worked hard and got some wonderful shots off, but there seemed to be a lid on the basket. Fortunately, Judah L. was able to find the bottom of the basket and came up with eight first-half points. Meanwhile, ALCS seemed to have everything falling for them and held a 21-10 lead at the half. The boys’ defense stiffened, and they played ACLS on even terms in the second half but could not close the score gap. CCA’s scoring was evenly spread out with six players in the scorebook – including Connor C., Tyler C., Kaleb S., Sam W. with a three-pointer Charlie W, and Judah L.

January 31st: CCA: 28, Landmark: 30

The Boys Middle School Basketball team closed out the month of January with another home game on the 31st against Landmark. Landmark got off to a quick 8-0 start but the Cougars battled back to go ahead 9-8, but Landmark finished the half with a 15-9 lead. Again the Cougars battled back a second time to go ahead 20-19 in the second half, but then Landmark responded once again to take a 27-20 lead. For a third time the Cougars came back and moved ahead 28-27, but could not increase the lead and Landmark came back and scored the last three points of the game to take the win in a hard fought battle. The Cougars played their most complete game of the year on both ends of the floor. Thanks to a wonderful crowd that showed up and was a huge encouragement with loud and boisterous cheering! Once again Judah L. led the team in scoring with 9 and Zeb B. contributed 8 points with four other players rounded out the scoring.

Girls Middle School Basketball:

January 25th: CCA: 36, Abundant Life: 26

The Girls’ Middle School Basketball team won at home against Abundant Life. Tied 17-17 at the half, the girls’ second-half defensive focus and easy points off steals shifted the momentum to the Cougars, who outpaced ALCS to a 36-26 win. Lia P. and Chloe D. led the way with 20 and 10 points, respectively, and Lila O. chipped in with her first points of the year.

January 31st: CCA: 27, Landmark: 41

The Girls Middle School Basketball team traveled to Landmark’s Ansara Gym for a battle on January 31st. Landmark overwhelmed the play early, rocketing out to a large lead that swelled to 19 points at the half. But this team continues to fight and work. Lia P. led the Cougars but four others contributed to the third quarter comeback slicing the Landmark lead down to 9 to start the fourth quarter. Unfortunately, they could not make more headway, losing 27-41 to a strong Landmark team. Sarah D. chipped in with her first points of the year.
