Covenant CommentariesFriday, May 31st | 8:45 am | CCA Cafeteria
Our next Covenant Commentary, Preventing Summer Slide: How Parents Can Help Their Children Maintain Academic Progress Over the Summer Vacation, will be held on Friday, May 31st during the Covenant Parent Connection meeting at 8:45 am.
This commentary will target elementary-aged learners.
Summer can sometimes bring a dip in academic progress for elementary students, known as the “summer slide.” However, parents can play a crucial role in keeping their kids academically engaged and advancing during these months. Grammar School Principal Andrea Bergstrom will explain how simple activities like reading together, exploring educational projects, or even incorporating learning into everyday tasks like cooking or gardening can make a big difference. Join us to hear about and share suggestions for staying proactive and making learning fun to help prevent the summer slide and ensure your child starts the new school year on the right foot.
This session will be recorded for those who cannot attend.
If you have questions about Covenant Commentaries or would like to suggest topics for future Commentaries, please contact Nicole Wise Williams, Chief Advancement Officer, at nicole.williams@ccamail.org. |

Cougars Round-Up
VARSITY SOFTBALL
May 2nd:
CCA 12, Brimmer and May 14
A competitive game ended in a walkoff with CCA falling to Brimmer and May on the final play of the game. Despite the loss, CCA collected six hits including Novalee Jones’ home run to center field, and Allie Freedman’s triple that drove in three runs. Allie and Maley Adair each collected two hits for Covenant. Novalee, Abigail Kinyua, and Allie each stole multiple bases with nine total bases stolen for the game. Great effort, Cougars!
VARSITY ULTIMATE FRISBEE
May 6th:
CCA 12, Chapel Hill Chauncy Hall 3
Monday’s game against CHCH came out to be a win for CCA with a final score of 12-3. CHCH scored the first point but CCA led by Mikey and Caleb on defense quickly locked down the scoring chances for CHCH forcing multiple turnovers each. On the offensive side, Simeon, Tristan, and middle schooler Quinn worked the disc up seamlessly in multiple points. They connected to score multiple times together. Maggie, Quinn, and Sophia (all three middle schoolers), pitched in, giving crucial minutes during the game, scoring and getting turnovers when needed most.
MIDDLE SCHOOL ULTIMATE FRISBEE
May 6th:
CCA 12, Chapel Hill Chancy Hall 1
What a great game for Middle School Ultimate Frisbee against Chapel Hill Chauncy Hall. CCA only had seven players, which meant everyone got to play the whole game, and the season conditioning paid off. While the Cougars won 12-1, the most important aspect of the game was that every player on the team scored. CCA took on the goal of making sure everybody had the opportunity to score. Coach Wegrzyn was proud of their commitment to teamwork and their desire to celebrate each other’s victories. Hannah J., Phoebe S., and Jack T. each got one goal, Evie C. and Nate J. added two more each, and Elliot S. caught three and was the Cougars’ leading scorer. Kaden L. scored twice but also led the team with nine assists, playing the critical role of team handler. Great job working together for a great team win.
