GENERAL NEWS & ANNOUNCEMENTS

Family Referral Incentive Program

Covenant experienced its 12th consecutive year of record enrollment in the 2024-2025 school year! God continues to bless CCA, and we are always seeking to welcome mission-aligned families to our community.

Covenant has a Family Referral Incentive Program to both incentivize and reward CCA parents and employees. Our parents, students, and employees are our best ambassadors, sharing their positive experiences at Covenant with friends, family, and acquaintances.

Current CCA families, as well as faculty and staff members, can receive a $500 referral bonus for each new family that they refer (who then applies to CCA, is accepted, and enrolls for the 2025–2026 school year). The Family Referral Program does not apply to immediate family members or persons living in the same household.

While many grade levels have already reached capacity for next year, we do have limited openings still available. Please contact the Office of Admissions for more details: admissions@ccamail.org

Covenant Commentaries: Spiritual Discernment

Friday, May 2nd | 8:45 am | CCA Cafeteria

Our final Covenant Commentary of the year will be held on Friday, May 2nd at 8:45 am following the Covenant Parent Connection meeting.

Jason Lawrenz, CCA Chaplain, will discuss the crucial role of spiritual discernment in navigating public discourse, especially in today’s polarized and noisy world.  He encourages us to seek wisdom through prayer and Scripture, and to practice humility, ensuring that our words and the voices to which we give space in our minds reflect truth, love, and the character of Christ. This is an especially relevant topic to share with our children who might not be able to interpret public commentary accurately.

This session will be recorded for those who cannot attend.

If you have questions about Covenant Commentaries or would like to suggest topics for future Commentaries, please contact Nicole Wise Williams, Chief Advancement Officer, at nicole.williams@ccamail.org.

NOTES FROM THE NURSE

The warmer weather is finally here, and students will be able to enjoy more time outside during the school day.

As is common for this time of year, we are starting to see an increase in students suffering from seasonal allergies. If your child has a history of seasonal allergies, please consult your child’s pediatrician and consider giving them an over-the-counter antihistamine at home if indicated. Please note we do not have allergy medications like Claritin or Zyrtec at school, and can’t give any medication without a doctor’s order.

Also, we encourage you to consider applying sunscreen to your child in the morning before school each day. For those students whose classes spend time in the back field for gym or recess, you may also want to consider applying bug spray as well. Please do not send sunscreen or bug spray with your child to school, as we are not permitted to apply it.

May the Fourth Be With You: Star Wars Dress-Down Day

Monday, May 5th

National Star Wars Day is held on May 4th each year. It was chosen for the pun on the catchphrase “May the Force be with you” as “May the Fourth be with you”. Even though the holiday was not created or declared by Lucasfilm, many Star Wars fans across the world have chosen to celebrate the holiday. It has since been embraced by Lucasfilm and parent company Disney as an annual celebration of Star Wars.

Since May 4th falls on a weekend, the Grammar School will be celebrating Star Wars Day on Monday, May 5th! Wear your favorite Star Wars t-shirt, do your hair like Princess Laia, dress like Yoda!

Please note – this is not about going out and spending money to purchase a costume! It’s supposed to be fun for the students and bring a little joy to our hallways. A t-shirt with a character on it is great! Spirit Wear is always allowed for those who would prefer not to participate.

Preschool, Pre-Kindergarten, & Kindergarten Summer Splash

Looking for a break in entertaining your kiddos this summer? How about sending your child(ren) to “Summer Splash” for something new, fun and engaging? Designed for incoming Preschool, PreKindergarten, and Kindergarten students, “Summer Splash” offers a safe and nurturing environment where our younger learners can explore, craft, enjoy free play, water activities, and more. As experienced teachers, we will guide your children through a variety of age-appropriate activities that promote creativity, social skills, and early learning.

When: July 29th–July 31st (T, W, Th) 9:00 am–12:00 pm

Cost: $170

This is a great opportunity for your child to practice being independent in preparation for their first day of school so we kindly ask that children attend without a caregiver. (This is YOUR time to enjoy kid-free!)

Curiosity on Display at the Grammar School History Fair

The halls and classrooms were buzzing before break at the Grammar School History Fair where students in grades 1-6 showcased their curiosity and creativity. From ancient civilizations to notable figures and events, each project reflected hard work and a passion for learning. It was inspiring to see our young learners bring history to life. Varsity Track & Field

Wednesday, April 23rd:

The Varsity Track & Field team met at Pingree over April break with several athletes setting new personal bests and school records. Matt Stuart shattered his own shot put record with a 42’ 5” throw, and Anne Hammond set two school records—94’ 4” in discus and 102’ in javelin. Colin Moll took first in the long jump (18’ 5.25”) and 300 hurdles (~47s), while Jacob Libby claimed first in both the 100m (~11.7s) and 200m (~24s), pending official ratification.

Saturday, April 26th:

At the Concord Academy meet, Carys Walters claimed two PRs and first place finishes in both the 100m (13.39) and 200m (28.23), while Colin Moll won the 100m hurdles in 18.35. Anne Hammond took first in javelin just shy of 100’, and Matt Stuart won the shot put with a 39’ 10” throw. The girls’ 4×100 team (Anna, Julia, Mackenzie, Carys) broke the school record with a 53.48 FAT time, and Julia Ray cleared 4’10” in high jump for first place.

Girls Varsity Softball

Tuesday, April 29th: CCA 6, Montrose 7
In a hard-fought battle against Montrose, the CCA girls varsity softball team held a 2-run lead heading into the bottom of the 7th inning but ultimately fell short in a 7–6 loss. Despite strong play throughout, the team ran out of steam late as Montrose rallied to edge out the win in the final moments.

Wednesday, April 30th: CCA 18, Brimmer 15

In a high-scoring showdown, CCA outlasted Brimmer 18–15 in a game where nearly every Covenant player crossed the plate. While the offense came alive across the lineup, late-inning defensive lapses once again made for a tense finish as the team continues working to lock down the final outs.

Varsity Ultimate Frisbee

Monday, April 14th: CCA 15, Commonwealth 9

Wednesday, April 16th: CCA 11, Brimmer 8

The Varsity Ultimate Frisbee team is off to a strong start with back-to-back home wins before break, defeating Commonwealth 15–9 and Brimmer 11–8. Both games showcased the team’s resilience, as they battled back from early deficits and adapted to challenging conditions—especially during the windy Brimmer match that featured frequent turnovers and fast-paced transitions. Mikey Graves has been a force on both ends, racking up a combined 9 goals and 9 assists across the two games, while Simeon Yen led the team in assists with 11. Tristan Vieira delivered clutch defensive stops and contributed on offense with 3 goals and 3 assists, and Sam Batten brought energy across the field, adding multiple goals and strong two-way play. With contributions from the entire roster—including standout efforts from Maddy Gaillard and 7th grader Tim Batten—the team is showing depth, hustle, and growing momentum early in the season.

MEET OUR TEAM

Amy Prichard, Grammar School Faculty, Fifth Grade

What is your role at Covenant and how long have you worked here? I teach 5th Grade Math, History, and Bible. This is year four for me at Covenant!

What has been your biggest learning experience here so far? Biggest learning experience…. This is my first time in my career that I have taught in a “Team-Teaching” model and I love every minute of it! I love that I can teach the subjects that I love and that my co-teacher teaches the subjects that are not my favorite!!!

What’s your favorite thing about working at Covenant? Where to begin. I think my family and friends are probably tired of hearing me rave about my work environment. I love the community, the intentionality, and the mission of the school. Knowing that I am working for an entity that puts God’s plan for the school over all is a gift. I also love working where my kids attend school!

Can you share a Bible verse or passage that has had a significant impact on your life or career? Colossians 3:17 – “And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”

What do you enjoy doing outside of work? Traveling with my family in our home-built camper bus named Fievel, beach-combing for sea glass and pottery, sewing, leading worship at my church, and cooking/baking.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be and why? Hmmmm… so many choices… Scotland to backpack through the highlands.

Describe one way you see God’s hand in Covenant’s mission or work.  I see God’s hand in Covenant through the faculty and staff. As a parent, I see how my own children are nurtured in their faith through chapel, Bible classes, and life conversations with their teachers and advisors. What a gift. As a teacher, I see daily how the mission of the Gospel leads each and every teacher and member of administration and staff. It is incredible.

What’s your favorite food? Risotto

Who on the team inspires you the most, and why? There are so many for so many different reasons! I think I am most inspired by the administration here at Covenant who always keep the running of the school focused on the mission of the school and what God has for our community.

What’s a fun fact about you that most people don’t know? I have lived within a 3-mile radius my whole life (though moved 4 times!) and married my high school sweetheart.

What’s your favorite CCA tradition or event? International Festival

What’s your favorite book, movie, or hobby? Sewing and Crocheting are my favorite hobbies!

How do you find balance between your faith, family, and work commitments? How? Not always beautifully! We have found in our family that being intentional about family time, scheduling slow weekends, and saying no to good things sometimes for the sake of balance is important!

Is there anything else you’d like the community to know about you? I love teaching 5th Grade and am so blessed to be teaching here at CCA.
