Covenant Commentaries

Friday, April 5th | 8:15 am | CCA Cafeteria

Our next Covenant Commentary, Turning School Inside Out, will be held on Friday, April 5th during the Covenant Parent Connection meeting at 8:15 am. Following on the heels of Andrea Bergstrom and Tracy Bennett’s commentary about technology, anxiety, and the developing mind, USLR Faculty Member and Classical Roots program Steward Alex Miller will present an unexpected solution to the anxiety epidemic: green spaces and hands-on work here on our campus. It’s been three years since Classical Roots began and, since then, our community has seen profound benefits from this humble program. In this Covenant Commentary, Alex Miller will make the bold suggestion that these gardens are not an addition to our mission and identity but an essential part of them, since they provide the best possible solutions to the next generation’s most urgent needs.

This session will be recorded for those who cannot attend.

If you have questions about Covenant Commentaries or would like to suggest topics for future Commentaries, please contact Nicole Wise Williams, Chief Advancement Officer, at nicole.williams@ccamail.org

School Health Advisory – Strep Throat

We have seen an increase in cases of strep throat within our school community over the past month. Strep throat is a bacterial infection that is spread through direct contact or respiratory droplets.

What can you do to prevent the spread of strep throat?

  1. Thoroughly wash your hands after blowing your nose and before eating or preparing food.
  2. Wash dishes in hot soapy water or a dishwasher.
  3. Do not share food, drinking cups, eating utensils, or toys that are put in the mouth.

Please also take the following precautions:

  1. Watch your child for signs of sore throat and other signs of strep which include: headache, fever, stomachache, and swollen and tender neck glands.
  2. Keep your child home from school if they have a fever of 100.0 degrees Fahrenheit or higher. They must remain home until they are fever-free for at least 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication.
  3. If your child develops a sore throat and any combination of the above symptoms, contact their pediatrician for evaluation. If strep is found, your child will need antibiotics to treat it and must remain home from school until they have been on antibiotics for at least 24 hours.

For additional information regarding strep throat, you may visit the following websites:
