Worship Band plays at Abundant Life

The Rhetoric School Worship Band traveled to Abundant Life Christian School in Wilmington on Thursday morning. These exceptional students led chapel for students in K-8th grade, glorifying God performing three beautiful songs. These student leaders represented Covenant so well and were a blessing to the 8th graders they talked with.

Cougar Round Up!

Boys Varsity Soccer:

10/11: The Covenant Cougars played an amazing game versus Newman with a final score of 7-1. Goals were scored by Jacob Libby, Bennett Plosker, Dylan Curtis, Isaac Portugal, Matthew Stuart, Alexander Sands and Ethan Veslasquez-Perdomo. Assists were from Bennett Plosker and Isaac Portugal. The defense and midfielders showed intense determination with honorable mentions by Theo Ostrowski (who played one of his best games of the season), Caz Ostrowski (the team’s goalie who had 9 saves), Wes Libby and Dylan Curtis.

10/13: CCA faced off against Landmark on Friday’s homecoming match. The Cougars started off well with a few good chances early on in the game. The Cougars were awarded a penalty kick from a handball foul in the box and junior captain Jacob Libby scored on the right side of the goal on the penalty kick to put the Cougars up 1-0. The Cougars ended the first half up 1 and Landmark tied the game in the second half to make it 1-1. The action was back and forth until a free kick was given to CCA. Again, Jacob Libby stepped up to take the free kick and struck a beautiful shot that went into the top half of the goal. The final score was 2-1 which gave the Cougars their 8th win of the season with a total record of 8-3. The Cougars will face Hyde (ME) on Monday 10/16.

Girls Varsity Soccer

10/13: The Girls Varsity Soccer team fought an extremely hard match against Landmark on Friday. Unfortunately the game ended in a 0-1 loss, but the girls played the strongest they have so far this season and left it all on the field. We’re proud of you, Cougars!

Girls Varsity Volleyball

10/11: The Girls Varsity Volleyball team traveled to Newman School on Wednesday and earned a 4-set victory: 25-19, 9-25, 25-22, 25-19. The team played smart, and at times they showed their power. The Cougars were led on attack by setter Riley Baird, who is the engine of their offense and had 22 assists. Julia Ray had 10 kills, and Leanna Rothier and Magdalen Miller combined for 10 more kills. Fernanda Silva-Fernandes had her best game from behind the service line. On defense, several of the girls had multiple digs that gave the team opportunities to win rallies.

10/13: The Girls Varsity Volleyball team lost in 4 very tight sets to Landmark on homecoming night. The girls came out strong, taking the first set 25-20. However, each of the next three sets narrowly went the way of Landmark, thanks in part to a server on Landmark who was challenging, and in part to some scrappy points that didn’t go CCA’s way. The Cougars continued their recent run of strong play on offense – as a team, they amassed 33 kills during the match, which is their highest kill total so far this season. Captain Riley Baird was once again the engine of the offense, assisting on 31 of those kills and collecting the other 2 herself.

Varsity Cross Country

10/11: The Varsity Girls Cross Country Team competed in a 3.1 mile race at Waring School. Across the board, it was the best race so far this season for our squad! The girls raced phenomenally on another tough course, and scored 5th as a team- our highest team score this season!
Official Results: Lily Stuart: 29:34 (14th place); Beatrice Kline: 30:35 (15th place); Elle Blosser: 32:11 (23rd place); Ally Hall: 33:09 (26th place); Victoria Gladden: 34:14 (29th place)

Boys JV Soccer

10/12: The Boys JV Soccer team won a good match at Landmark with a final score of 2-0.  The backline was solid helping Jacob record another shutout. Landmark could barely get past Jacob, Andrew, Kyle, and Christian who kept pounding the ball deep into the Landmark half. The game was dominated by the midfielders Oscar, Zeke, Davi, Caleb, and Nick. They had well-timed challenges that kept Landmark from developing any momentum, with quick transitions into offensive play. Offensively, our attacking wings Colin and Nico had numerous beautiful crosses that created dangerous scoring opportunities, with striker Alex creating constant chaos for the Landmark defense. The two goals were both scored on great passing, the first was a cross by Alex that found Colin’s forehead for a perfect header. The second goal started with a through ball from Nick that Colin chased down near the back line and crossed to Nico who finished with style. Congratulations for a strong showing!

Girls JV Volleyball

10/10: The Girls JV Volleyball team travelled to North Shore Baptist Church to help out for their service project.

Boys Middle School Soccer

10/10: The Middle School Boys  Soccer game against Tower was an exciting match right out of the gate. Within the first half of the game Cole scored his first goal of the season. Quickly following, Grayson scored with an amazing assist from MacArther. In the second half Grayson did it again with another amazing goal. Our fearless goalie Arman made several impressive saves and our defense put up quite a battle against Tower. Tyler and Quinn  showed extreme leadership with the midfield team. There were several impressive athletic moments not mentioned from other team members that certainly did not go unnoticed. Unfortunately, the game against Tower ended in a 4-3 loss. It certainly did not feel like a loss because the boys left it all on the field.

10/11: The Boys Middle School team and families enjoyed a great dinner together at the Jukanovich home.

10/12: If you attended the Boys Middle School soccer match against Brookwood on Thursday, you would agree that it was an exciting game to watch! What made this match spectacular to watch was the hard work the BMSS team displayed as well as their exceptional growth on and off the field.  The game started with Tyler in the first half scoring a goal. Our fearless captains Elliot and Daniel led a strong defense against the well matched Brookwood team. Judah, Hudson, and Quinn showed amazing tactical soccer skills as midfielders, and Greyson bravely made several saves as goalie. CCA was down by three goals until MacArther scored, ending the game at 4-2. CCA brought the energy in the second half demonstrating true resilience and teamwork.

Girls Middle School Soccer

10/10: The GMSS team was victorious on Tuesday with a win against Tower School. The final score was 4-2* with two of the goals scored by Bella and Natalie in the first half. CCA’s defense continues to play very well every game with Isabella in goal and Samantha, one of many incredible players, on defense. Way to go girls! *The two additional goals were Tower scoring on themselves.

10/12: The GMSS team held their own against Brookwood School this past week. The girls fought bravely and tirelessly for a final score of 0-0. Kelly went in goal for the first time this season and with her incredible grit, she did not let any ball get by her! Isabella, Marina and Marie took a number of amazing shots and executed some great plays. Although the girls were playing against a much older team on a larger field, had players absent and battled injuries, the girls played the best they ever have! Come cheer on the girls at home this Thursday, October 19th against Austin Prep.
