GENERAL NEWS & ANNOUNCEMENTS

CCA is Hiring: Facilities Manager and a part-time Main Office Manager

The Covenant community has always been at the heart of the school’s success, and many of our hires come from within our Covenant community! Your referrals have been instrumental in bringing the right people into our school, and we would be so grateful for your help as we search for the right candidates to serve two open positions: Facilities Manager and a part-time Main Office Manager at CCA.

We’re seeking individuals who embody our cherished values: a mature Christian faith, a passion for service, and exceptional relationship-building skills. If you know someone who fits either of these descriptions, please point them in our direction and have them apply here

Thanksgiving All-School Chapel

Please join us on Tuesday, November 21st, at 8:15am in the Performing Arts and Athletics Center for our all-school Thanksgiving Chapel. We have much to be thankful for this year. Praise be to God for His wonderful provision, protection, guidance, love, and mercy!

We pray you each find this Thanksgiving holiday a time of restoration and gratitude, feeling the warmth of the Lord’s love through the power of His Holy Spirit.

Covenant Commentaries

Special thanks to CCA Parent and Author Esther Baird for sharing her heart at our second Covenant Commentary this past Friday. If you were unable to make it, a video link will be forthcoming.

For questions about Covenant Commentaries or to suggest topics for future Commentaries, please contact Nicole Williams, Chief Advancement Officer, at nicole.williams@ccamail.org

Month of Giving

As we each prepare our hearts and households for a season of expressing gratitude for God’s love and faithfulness, Covenant is encouraging students, families, and members of our community to consider stewarding their God-given gifts of time, talent, and treasure – leading up to Giving Tuesday on November 28th and beyond – to reflect His love and advance His Kingdom.

In the days leading up to and including #GivingTuesday and through the end of the year, please consider partnering with Covenant in expanding His Kingdom through one or more opportunities listed here

Join Our Pumpkin Composting Drive!

CCA’s Classical Roots program needs your old pumpkins! Instead of tossing them away, let’s give these pumpkins a new purpose. We’re collecting old pumpkins to add to our compost bin, helping create nutrient-rich soil for our garden. If you have any pumpkins you’d like to donate, please leave them near the composting bins by the USLR entrance, and we’ll take care of the rest!

Let’s save these pumpkins from the trash and turn them into something green and wonderful!

School Picture Retake Day

Tuesday, November 28th

Retake day is for new students and staff members, transfer students, anyone who may have missed the initial picture day, and anyone unhappy with their original picture. If a student would like the retake photo to replace the original photo, please have the student return the original picture package to the photographer on picture day. We will replace the original package at no additional cost.

Save the Date for CCA’s International Festival on Friday, January 26th!

We are looking forward to hosting CCA’s largest celebration of the many cultures and traditions represented within our incredible Covenant community! Join us for an evening of food, fun, and celebration in the PAAC from 6-8 pm.

The International Festival is an evening where families can represent their heritage and culture by sharing food, drinks, art, music, decorations, etc with the CCA community. We will line the PAAC with tables from different countries and have an open house atmosphere where you can go around and sample different food, talk with parents and students, and learn about different cultures that are present within the CCA community.

If you are interested in being part of a table and providing some food to share, please sign up here.

If you have any questions or ideas, please contact the Global Community Council Student Prefect William at william.wei.2024@ccamail.org.

Health Advisory–Pneumonia

Over the past few weeks, we have been seeing (and hearing) many students with intense coughing. Unfortunately, we have also seen a marked increase in pneumonia diagnoses as well. With the cold weather upon us and an increase in infectious diseases, it’s important to protect yourself and your family against illness. Practice good hand hygiene by washing your hands frequently or use hand sanitizer. Make sure you are drinking water, eating a healthy diet, and getting enough sleep to help keep your immune system strong.

At CCA, we continue to take measures in helping prevent the spread of disease, including air filtration and disinfecting frequently touched surfaces. If your student has ongoing or severe symptoms of cough or fever, please consult their physician for further evaluation. For additional information about pneumonia, please see email sent by the school nurse last week, or contact your primary health care provider.

GRAMMAR SCHOOL

Operation Christmas Child

Last week, we were delighted to fill two vehicles with our collected OCC shoeboxes. We want to thank all the students and families who participated, and Mrs. Patterson and Mrs. Morrow for delivering the boxes to the Operation Christmas Child donation centers. We do not doubt that this labor of love will bless many children this Christmas season!

UPPER SCHOOL OF LOGIC & RHETORIC

Thanksgiving House Challenges

For Community this week USLR students enjoyed some time outside for Thanksgiving Themed house challenges. Students went head-to-head in an apple pie eating contest, a donut-on-a-string eating contest, “Shake Your Tail Feathers” contest where students had a Kleenex box filled with feathers tied to their backside that they had to shake to get all the feathers to fall out, a Yam on a spoon relay race, and a Turkey Trot relay race (students duckwalking while wearing Turkey hats). Wilberforce and King tied for first, Bojaxhiu came in third, and Ten Boom came in fourth.

The updated house cup totals leave Bojaxhiu barely in first with 2,029 points, King close behind with 2,008 points, Wilberforce rising to third place with 1,669 points, and Ten Boom in fourth with 1,584 points.

The Lab Report

Our first session of the “Lunch in the Lab” Lecture Series was held on Tuesday, November 7th, with Senior and Lab Assistant Alex Zessis giving an exciting and informative talk about Maine Fisheries and North American Right Whales. He talked about the challenging balance between working towards saving an endangered species and not destroying the livelihood of lobster fishermen in Maine. Click here to hear Alex’s talk.

Robotics Team

Two teams from CCA competed in the VexV5 Spin Up Qualifier at North Andover High School on Saturday. Both teams designed & built their own unique and multifunctional robots. Excellent teamwork, incredible ingenuity and innovation were displayed by our teams and noted by event judges. Kudos to our teams excellent display of sportsmanship following one of our robots being deliberately flipped & having some elements shredded by an opposing team. Luckily the teams worked together to rebuild and reprogram to have more success later in the competition. We walked away with a better record than anticipated, placing 47th & 54th in one of the more difficult regional competitions this season. We are looking forward to our next competition on December 16th in Framingham–go Cougars!
