Wow! This  is our last weekend before our new school year begins!

The classrooms are set up, the floors are getting shined, and the books have arrived. All we need now is you! We cannot wait to welcome all of our students and families back to school next week. It’s an exciting time to be a part of the Covenant community. We welcomed our new International students earlier this week and they have enjoyed getting acclimated. We are thrilled to announce that we will open school with our highest enrollment ever, between 270 and 275 students!

As we come off of a week full of emotional highs and lows, the strength of this community can not be denied. Thank you to everyone who upheld, and will continue to uphold the Williamson family in this dark time. I was beyond proud to lead a community that so naturally demonstrated compassion, love and genuine reliance on God our Father. Tragedies and celebrations, ups and downs, and transitions of all kinds will always be a part of school life, but we can confidently say that we are thriving under God’s good grace and ready to launch another successful school year. We are so happy that you have chosen to be a part of our adventure.

As we head into the business of next week I would like to remind you of the following. This information can also be found in the Current, which I encourage you to read thoroughly each week.

New Parent Orientation:  Monday, 8/29  2:00-2:45 in the Chapel.  Come for an information-packed presentation geared at equipping you for a great start to the year.  Childcare is being offered to children in PreK-6th grade.  If you are interested in signing up for childcare, contact Brenda McPherson.

New Upper School Student Orientation: Monday, 8/29  2:00-2:45 in the Cafeteria.  All new students in grades 7-12 will meet for orientation with Mr. Church and Mrs. Azadian.

All-School Open House:  Monday, 8/29  Drop in between 3:00 - 4:00 to visit the classrooms, meet the teachers and connect with school families.   Brenda McPherson will have a staff of eager student hosts who will help you find your classrooms.  We will be waiting for you in our front entrance at the Welcome Table!

Back-to-School BBQ: Monday, 8/29  Join us for a barbecue dinner from 4:00 - 5:30 in the Courtyard.  This is a great opportunity to begin to get to know your new school family, as well as enjoy a tasty meal!  Bring the whole family and a side dish or dessert to share.  Last name A-M should bring a side dish,    Last name N-Z - a dessert.  Come for a time of information, fellowship and tasty food.  We look forward to seeing you!

CCA Prayer Walk: Monday 8/29 Please read the following from our Parents in Prayer Group:

Some of you may or may not be aware of the Parents in Prayer (PIP) group at Covenant.  This group was started last year by a network of dedicated parents eager to serve the school community by consistently covering the students, teachers/faculty, and Covenant families in prayer.  We will continue this PIP Group this year and, as always, we welcome any newcomers to join us in lifting up our school on Mondays after student drop-off in the cafe.  There is certainly no obligation to be a regular but come check us out as you are available.

This year, we’d like to try something new!  It is our desire to unite together as a community to pray over CCA’s facility, faculty and families before the new semester begins.  Therefore, we will be hosting a Prayer Walk after the BBQ on Monday, August 29th, at 5:15 pm.  For those who are willing and wish to participate in this event, we will meet in the gymnasium promptly at 5:15. At that time, we will divide up into groups to cover designated areas within the school as well as around the perimeter.  We will try to end between 5:45 and 6:00 but feel welcome to pray with us as time allows and leave as necessary. Please consider joining us with your families as we lift up our school in prayer. It is our great hope that this small physical act of walking and praying together will be somewhat healing, faith-building, and serve to grow our connection to one another in our school community and unify us closer to the Lord.

Please contact Allison Worthington - For the Parents In Prayer Group at Covenant if you have any questions. ()

God has blessed us with another school year and we are ready to celebrate! Can’t wait to see you next week!

Andrea Bergstrom, Interim Head of School
